Rooting for the Underdog

A sunny spring evening - perfect for a baseball game.

Watching some tough losses earlier in the season reminds that the team is still learning, growing. Coach Dad encourages fun, no matter the score, but when the 10-run-rule brings an early end to the first few games, fun becomes quite a challenge.

Tonight's game threatened a similar fate, beginning with various errors and numerous runners left stranded on base. Tough to stay positive and cheer in the midst of self-defeat.

However, shortstop Son and Coach Dad help make up the struggling team, so cheer we must. And tonight, a turnaround. Excitement and confidence builds as strikes are thrown, plays are made, runs are scored. Still not a win for the team, but a game ended on a positive note nonetheless!

Excited for my boys, one who is finally finding success in his first year of coaching, and another who got to cross home plate and pitch a shutout in the final inning!
