Our oldest child celebrated her 12th birthday last month...that's right - TWELFTH!!
Seems absolutely impossible that it has been that long since we were blessed with children, and yet at the same time, it is tough to remember our life without kids!
K1 is a beautiful young lady with a sweet spirit and a wonderful heart for God - we are very proud of her! She also happens to have larger feet than her mother now, and isn't far from standing eye-to-eye with her, either...not sure how I feel about that!
She is still in love with horses, too, so we celebrated with a horse-themed birthday party this year, and for part of her gift, she received a certificate for all six of us to go riding together at the stables where she receives her lessons. She redeemed that certificate a few weeks ago when her cousins were here visiting - watch the blog for pics to come!
K1 also participated in a local music contest with her school band last month, and she received the highest possible rating on her trumpet solo! Her band instructor has spoke often of her developing musical talent, and we are excited to see her discover another gift God has placed in her life. I see many more concerts, contests, and performances in our future!
Anyways...back to the birthday!

The certificate for family riding time!

Opening the big one...

...a bronze figurine representing K1 with her 2 loves - horses and dogs (there is a dog sitting on the horse behind the girl).

Getting some birthday love from her buddy, Bosley!

Quite a bonfire on that cake this year! Don't know if we can handle any extra candles - might have to stay 12 forever!!! :)
